To help people overcome the adversities of
life so often expressed through mental
and/or physical illness. In other words, has someone given you a
diagnosis or label that has slowed you down or stopped you in your tracks?

by evoking their stories, listening to
and reflecting on their truth, and affirming them in their quest for their life's meaning

Our Profile
SoulCircling (aka Circling
the Soul) is a service
of HOPE, Healing of Persons Exceptional,
whose mission is to help people find meaning,
value and purpose in their lives through
education, support groups, lectures and
workshops.
HOPE is a member of the Maine Association
of Non-Profits and Maine Businesses for
Social Responsibility.
People who have taken part in the SoulCircling
exercise say things like: "This has
given me a whole new look at myself and
my family!" "Wow! I've made sense
out of my life." "Now I can get
on with my life." "It was a vital
part of the healing efforts I put into
getting over my cancer."
A message from the Founder and Principal,
Ken Hamilton:
This work grows out of the work I began
with my patients in 1971 when they asked
me to listen to their stories and help them
face their serious illnesses. Brian Tracy
of the Nightingale-Conant Corporation of
Niles, IL, taught me the power of identifying
what he called then our "core passion"
and now calls our "heart's desire."
In my own spiritual development, I've come
to realize that the that passion—that
heartsong— rides into
our lives on the wings of the soul, which
comes to use of all of the genetic gifts
of ego: body, talent, and temperament, to
complete
its journey through the circumstances of
life. SoulCircling brings the soul
and the ego into collaboration for the journey.
The journey of a soul is a unique,
never-to-be-repeated work of art.
(Disclaimer: When we created the process
of SoulCircling, we sought to register it,
but could not get the copyright office to
give us the registry, even though we could
not find another organization using the
expression. However, we were allowed to
register "Circling the Soul" and we own
three domain names for SoulCircling. The
copyrighted book about the process is called
SoulCircling: The Journey to the Who. It appears that Soul Circles
and Soul Circling are becoming popular
terms. That delights us. The more people who
turn to their spiritual director for advise
about their
course in life, the better.)
